Not strictly visual research but research that has guided my plans.
So I talked to a tattoo artist about tattooing on hands and he said he wouldn't tattoo someones hand unless they have both sleeves done. This made me look into full sleeves and a general dress style that came up a lot with females was a 1940's esk style. This has also made me think of the long distance relationship being one about the war and having it start in the 1940's in grayscale black and white and progress to a modern day setting as ultimately this story is about long distance relationships.
Once I have some initial designs I will be taking them back to the tattoo artist to get some feedback.
I also started looking at music:
All about the bass - Meghan trainor
Sing sing sing - Benny goodman
Goodbye mr A
19 said (xxxholic)
Diver english version
Merry Go Round - howl's moving castle
And decided on 100- 110bpm and came up with a rough melody. And skipped the repeated phrases.

Week 8: Green screen, final plans.
Green screen animatic
Mike did the first 34 seconds and I did the rest putting all of the green screen footage together so it works to the correct timings. We had to jiggle the plans around a little bit. But now that's done we all sat down and decided on who was going to do what. As you can see below.

Week 8: Textures, Reference, Scenes, Trello
Textures
This was from around week 5, were I went back over one of Lily's concept works and did my own focusing on texturing which helped with the hippo and assets.
Rocks
Rocks
Waterfall
Video Reference
Lily acted the hippo, Sara the boy and I was using the camera as the only one trained in it.
We took over the light box room for an hour or so as it had a projector which we showed the animatic onto and also a full scale mirror.
We will now be using it as reference ^^

Putting it all together
Using Sara's animatic I deleted the boy and hippo from the file and concentrated on getting all of the scene scaled correctly and textured using both Lilys and my textures and also changing the assets so that they had the correct uv mapping. Making sure the assets are on different layers so it's easier to navigate. This file was then imported into the original animatic scene.
This file named "Animate on me" doesn't have the textures yet but will have them added later. Callums initiative managed to get the rig to work and the hippo to be able to be scaled when that was added. And the key frames from Sara's animatic fit to correct times.
Planning
Week 6-8
Blocking didn't happen on time because
- animatic time was incorrect and needed to be changed
- We had a problem scaling the assets to the animatic
- We had a problem with adding the rig to the hippo
- Paint weighting and rigging the hippo had unexpected problems
- We were a week behind on assets and caught up on those
But! All of these are now sorted and over the next week we will be focusing purely on the animation. I've split the work so everyone is doing 50% of one character and we all know what section we are doing. Using the new pri vis we will be using the same file and making sure the key frames stay relatively the same so when everything is put together it will all work.
Week 9
So the aim is to get all the blocking done, the concentrate on lighting and polishing next week and then to start putting it all together in premier. All in all we are back on task, just will have less time to polish it all off.
I've also moved all the needed files into there own section as it was becoming unorganized in looking under done. So everything is easy to find and work from.
